Chief Iron Tail was the primary inspiration for the United States Buffalo Nickel. Iron Tail was a traveling performer of Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. He belongs to the Oglala Lakota nation. James Earle Fraser the engraver also claimed to draw some inspiration from the Native American named Two Moons.
