Lincoln Penny Values, Errors, & Key Dates


The Lincoln Penny was issued 1959-present. It has a face value of .01 and a weight of 2.5g. The original engraver was Victor D. Brenner and the Lincoln Penny was made of 95% copper and 5% zinc. This page is for the newer non-wheat pennies. For wheat pennies click here. In 1982 the materials would be changed to 97.5 zinc and 2.5% copper in an effort to lower the cost of production.
