Cent Stukken Planchet Wheat Penny Error

A 1943 penny struck on a .25 cent stukken planchet sold at heritage auctions for $11,500 in 2001.

In 1943 the United States assisted the Netherlands in creating coinage during World War 2. Philadelphia then either mistakenly or knowingly used the same material to create a few United States coins.

.25 cent stukken planchet US coins are being sold for thousands of dollars.

How to know if you've found a stukken planchet? Because the planchets were made from Zinc Coated Steel they weigh 2.70g and not 2.5g like the copper coins we produced.
